2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the Legendary time lord, The Doctor. To celebrate Studio Canal have produced a digitally re-mastered dvd and blu ray package featuring one of the Doctors most feared enemies, The Daleks. With the newly re-mastered versions of the films also come a whole host of new extras and behind the scenes including new interviews and a look at the restoration process.

British film legend Peter Cushing plays everyone’s favourite Timelord, and having invented the TARDIS, a strange machine capable of travelling into other dimensions, the Doctor and his three young accomplices set forth on a quest through time and space. Their journey takes them into the dark, undiscovered depths of the universe and to the planet of Skaro. A primitive world devastated by nuclear war and populated by two warring species, a peaceful tribe known as Thals and a life form heavily mutated by radiation, encased in protective machines. The Halo games have long topped the charts as some of X-Box’s best sellers. During the unveiling of Microsoft’s new gen console ‘Xbox One’ they have announced that a live action series of Halo will be produced by Steven Spielberg.

Full details such as cast, story lines, release date and whether it will be watchable outside of Xbox One are yet to be confirmed

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean said: “Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Bolero and our Olympic Gold medal in Sarajevo and for us, it seemed a fitting time to say goodbye to Dancing on Ice.  We wanted to go out on a high.  We have loved every minute of the eight series and we’re determined to make our final series the best ever.  It has been a real pleasure to work on one of the UK’s biggest and best loved entertainment shows and we are extremely proud of the skating legacy that we have built up since the show launched in 2006.  We will miss it hugely and would like to thank all the viewers and fans for their continued support.

ITV’s Television Director, Peter Fincham added: “Torvill & Dean are the most successful ice dancing partnership of our generation and brought huge integrity, skill and professionalism to the show and with their departure, it feels like the series has reached its natural end.

With the January 2014 series being the final ITV promise the biggest and best stars will be taking part, who do you want to see slap on the skates?

This years line-up will include three UK Premieres featuring the Rom-Com return of Richard Curtis, About Time, The Way Way back which stars Steve Carell and Toni Colette with the final film of the Film4 Summer screen being the UK Premiere of Prince Avalanche.

Thursday 8th August 2013 – World Premiere: About Time A magical new comedy from Richard Curtis in which Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) is able to relive every moment of his life until he gets it right. Rachel McAdams and Bill Nighy also star in this delightful film about lifes unexpected twists and turns as the course of true love proves hilariously difficult. (119 mins, £22.50 + booking fees)

Friday 9th August – What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (12A) Sibling rivalry is pushed to the extreme as aging sisters Bette Davis and Joan Crawford – playing former stars of the silver-screen – torment and torture one another in this slice of Hollywood Gothic. Theres plenty of suspense as the mutual loathing mounts, as well as a blackly comic sensibility thats helped turn this chiller into something of a camp classic. (134 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Saturday 10th August – Mean Girls, plus Carrie, plus The Loved Ones (18) A late-night triple-bill of high-school comedy and horror that gets darker the longer it lasts. Lindsay Lohan turns the tables on the popular girls in the Tina Fey-scripted Mean Girls, while its Stephen King whos setting the stage for Sissy Spaceks ultimate revenge in Carrie. Nothing can prepare you for where this all ends though, with an invitation to Australian prom-horror The Loved Ones that youd be foolish to refuse. (97, 98 and 84 mins, £18.50 + booking fees)

Sunday 11th August – The Untouchables (15) Thrilling action in a classical style  Brian De Palmas tale of G-men versus gangsters in Prohibition-era Chicago reinvents the mobster movie while retaining plenty of old-school elegance. Robert De Niro, Kevin Costner and an Oscar-winning Sean Connery provide the acting muscle, with Ennio Morricones score propelling us through to that memorable final showdown on the train station steps. (119 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Monday 12th August -  Guys and Dolls  A big, bright and romantic musical classic, which splashes sensational Broadway style and swagger across the screen as it makes its way from a stylised New York to the swirling, seductive backdrop of Havana. Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando and Jean Simmons are the stars of this streetwise favourite, with the singalong setpieces ranging from show-stopping group numbers to intimate torch songs. Tuesday 13th August – UK PremiereP: The Way Way Back Join us for the UK premiere of this wonderfully warm and nostalgic comedy that, despite its coming-of-age perspective, doesnt shy away from more adult emotions. An awkward fourteen-year-old learns some important life-lessons during a summer vacation with mum Toni Colette and her new boyfriend Steve Carell, although he does his real growing up at the local waterpark under the watchful eye of a supremely laidback Sam Rockwell. Wednesday 14th August – Kes (PG) Director Ken Loachs highly emotive yet down-to-earth debut from 1969 follows the story of a young Barnsley boy who secretly keeps and trains a kestrel, the birds flight providing an inspiring symbol of escape amidst oppressive surroundings. Considered a classic of British cinema, this is an intimate, human-scale film that will really soar on a big-screen under the stars. (110 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Thursday 14th August – The Throne of Blood (12A) Director Akira Kurosawas spectacular and haunting version of Macbeth is one of the most powerful Shakespeare films ever made, still unrivalled after more than 50 years. The filmmakers force-of-nature leading man Toshiro Mifune plays a samurai warrior whose murderous plots bring darkness down upon both himself and his scheming wife. The climax may provide one of cinemas defining images but, this being Kurosawa, every frame of the film proves unforgettable. (110 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Friday 16th August – Predator plus Gremlins 2: The New Batch (18) All creatures great and small, Summer Screen-style! Schwarzenegger kicks off this monstrous double-bill, leading a band of mad, bad mercenaries on a jungle mission that brings them face-to-ugly face with an enormous alien-beast in the relentless sci-fi adventure Predator. Then we get smaller – but no less lethal – as Gizmo gets wet and Gremlins run riot in New York, creating a madcap sequel thats crazier and creepier than the original. Saturday 17th August – Badlands plus Raising Arizona (15) The American outlaw spirit is alive and well in this double-bill of great directors. Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek are young lovers on the run in visionary director Terrence Malicks poetic and highly influential debut Badlands, while Nicolas Cage just cant make himself go straight  despite being married to cop Holly Hunter  in the Coen Brothers wildly wacky and hugely heartfelt Raising Arizona. Sunday 18th August – Crazy Stupid Love (12A) Contemporary rom-coms may not always get it right but heres one that does (having a cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Steve Carell, Julianne Moore AND Kevin Bacon certainly helps!). The love-lives of a number of characters interlink in this sweet, sexy comedy that looks at modern romance from every angle, with Gosling on top form as the experienced player who finally meets his match. (118 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Monday 19th August – The Red Shoes (U) Blazing colour, vivid emotion and swoon-inducing style, all offset by shades of darkness  it can only be legendary British filmmaking duo Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburgers classic about a prima ballerina whose success comes at a high price. Stars Moira Shearer and Anton Walbrook are electrifying, but the whole film – from mundane backstage business to fairytale performance setpieces – casts a magic spell. A big-screen experience not to be missed. (135 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Tuesday 20th August – Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (PG) If ever there was a vote to determine the most entertaining film ever made, then surely this high-spirited cross between the Western and the buddy-comedy would come somewhere near the top. Made in 1969, with effortlessly charismatic stars Paul Newman and Robert Redford cracking wise while running for their lives, its literally got everything you need to have a great time at the movies. (110 mins, £14.50 + booking fees)

Wednesday 21st August – UK Premiere: Prince Avalanche (TBC) The UK premiere of this funny and lyrical odd-couple comedy from the supremely talented and always unpredictable David Gordon Green brings Summer Screen to a close. Serious-minded Paul Rudd and irresponsible Emile Hirsch may have a tenuous family connection but they couldnt be more different, meaning their summer together painting road-markings in the middle of nowhere threatens to be a long one. A gentle but richly resonant treat, graced by sublime landscape photography and two very memorable characters. (94 mins, £22.50 + booking fees)

Coronation Street were the big winners of the night scooping 8 out of the 16 awards with Hollyoaks close behind having won 5 awards. The coveted best soap award, which is voted for by TV Viewers was won by Coronation Street taking the possibility of a 6 year winning streak from Eastenders. This is the fifth time in 14 years that the soap has won the ’Best British Soap’ award with Eastenders winning on the 9 other occasions.
